| The greatest event that takes place is the holding of the pageant known as Sri Dalada Perahera, a tradition continued since the arrived of the Tooth Relic in the 4th century AD. Thousands of Buddhists and non-Buddhists gather at the site to witness the pageant and the connected rituals. (See under “The Dalada Procession of Kandy”) |
