This represents the festival of food offered to the Tooth Relic on the Sinhala New Year day in mid-April each year. An officer called Nakat Mohottala (Officer determining the auspicious times) plays an important role in this festival. It was at such auspicious time that the
Buddha-puja is made to the Tooth Relic shrine on this day. |
